I’m gonna be a BRIDESMAID!

Yes, it’s true!  I’m going to a bridesmaid this upcoming November 2017 and I cannot wait!  I am beyond happy for my sister and her fiancé, and this year is especially a good one because we get to celebrate their love.  Along with being a bridesmaid, comes lots and lots of “bridesmaid things” including dress fittings, writing speeches (while trying not to cry!), bridal showers, and did someone say…. bachelorette party?!  That’s right! We’ll be spending her bachelorette party in a cabin getaway in Breckenridge, Colorado.  I’ve actually never been to Colorado ever so I’m very excited for this trip!  (ps. I’ll probably do a video blog from packing tips to the cabin tour, and more!)

This is the beautiful box my sister surprised me with.  She had the server bring it out during our brunch at The Great Maple at Fashion Island, Newport Beach. Brb dying… cuteness overload!   This super sweet idea can be tailored to really any occasion (birthday, anniversary, graduation, etc.)   It’s one of those things that can look beautiful when simple and also super decked out!

  1. “bridesmaid” candle
  2. Jo Malone perfume
  3. Champagne!
  4. Scratcher Telegraph Card from BHLDN

I look forward to sharing with you guys all the exciting bridesmaids stuff-to-come!  Hope everyone is having a happy Wednesday.

I’ve fallen in love…

Okay, I didn’t mean that kind of love (although I have also recently fallen in that kind of love too)… but today I wanted to spread some inspiration on something new in my life, journaling!  I started some serious journaling (accidentally) this past December and I’ve actually fallen in love with it.  The reason why I say it was accidental is because two months ago I encountered a shift in my life and felt a push to write down all my thoughts because I couldn’t organize them in my head for the life of me!  My flight to Hawaii was in 3 hours and I impulsively drove to my favorite stationary store in Downtown Fullerton to find some inspiration.  This little floral journal caught my eye.   It’s called Mint Floral by Rifle Paper Co. It was only $20 and it was well worth it.

I’ve written in this thing every single day since then. It’s a really therapeutic way to end the day and wind down before going to bed. Every night I throw on my pj’s, a facemask, music, and go to town with my favorite pen.  I am a very organized and structured person when it comes to work (and lists, omg I LOVE lists.) but my journal is the one place I truly let go and write freely about whatever’s on my mind.  This is sometimes really hard for me to write without structure, but it has allowed me to become more free in a lot of other ways than just writing.

Why you should start your own journal.  It’s so important to take time everyday to just reflect on yourself and your day.  My journal is the insight into my mind and all my thoughts, and you can make YOURS too.  It’s actually pretty cool looking back and seeing growth and progress.  It might feel weird at first, or you might get stuck some nights.  But just keep going…. write about literally anything.  What you did that day, what you feel grateful for, a list of travel destinations you hope to explore someday, your current favorite song and how it makes you feel, a new recipe, workout routine, or restaurant you wanna eat at.  Sometimes when I feel a creative block, I like to write down two lists.  One list containing goals that i’ve accomplished (and how each goal made me feel), and the other of goals I have yet to accomplish and how I think they will make me feel.  It is proven that people who journal everyday are more successful and ambitious.  It will help you become more in tune with yourself and learn more about yourself as a person.

My first journal entry was written 30,000ft in the air, pretty cool. I encourage you guys to dive into the world of journaling. You never know, you might fall in love with it too!

Journal to my front, clouds to my right.  I love flying!  (PS. Will be posting an Essentials for Flying post soon!)  You can purchase this exact journal below! It comes in 3 different adorable colors.  Shop around for a journal that fits your style and that you love, since you’ll be opening it everyday!

Can’t wait to hear about how journaling has effected your lives one day at a time. xoxo! -J

Cheers to Twenty!

Good morning loves!  Long time no blog.  I finally turned 20! Wee! Not a teen anymore, so I  decided that it’s time for some serious adulting!  I realized that if you seriously want something you have to work hard, be mature, and most importantly motivate and push yourself to get it.   As I get older, nobody else is gonna hold my hand and walk me to the finish line.  At the end of the day, it’s just me myself and I.  Truly, that is one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned over the past year.  20 means fully focusing on myself and learning more about who Jenni is.  It means taking as many opportunities as possible to do things I love.  It means focusing on my career, future self, and inspiring more people on the way. To me, turning 20 is all about my self journey.  I’m very excited for the opportunity to embark upon this new decade, and see a different side of life!

Birthday morning consisted of brunch and shopping with my sister, Sandy, and her fiancé (soon to be brother in law! yay! So excited!), Mike.  We headed out to Fashion Island in Newport Coast.  Brunch was at Sweet Maple.  They had these amazing maple bacon donut appetizers and a great selection of brunch and lunch! Deeeelish! And, they even brought me cute little raspberry sorbet birthday sweets, great service!  Sandy and Mike gifted me the Miu Miu by Miu Miu perfume! If you’re reading this, thanks guys, I love it!

We did some shopping afterwards, because how can you not when you’re at fashion Island! #tempting.  We went into Anthropologie (my favorite store ever!) and found some holiday goodies! This table was so festive. Currently waiting for all the after christmas damage i’ll do here in a few days!

Oh yeah, and I also left out one really really exciting detail for the end….. I’M GONNA BE A BRIDESMAID!  Woo! Sandy surprised me at brunch and asked me to be her bridesmaid next Fall at her wedding.  At the end of brunch, our server brought out this wooden crate and placed it in front of me. I was super shocked but totally thought it was just another birthday surprise that Sandy had put together for me.  The card had a huge metallic gold heart on it & it was like a scratcher with the message under the gold part! So creative. It read,

As soon as I saw the beginning of the word, bridesmaid, I felt the tears coming and I looked up at my sister and just felt so grateful and excited to be apart of her big day!  They made fun of me for crying, but I couldn’t help it lol!  Anyways, it was the most perfect surprise to top off my birthday brunch! Couldn’t ask for anything better.

My outfit for the day was a grey sweater dress + festive holiday scarf + sparkly black tights + black booties + and a simple black coat! Perfect for the holidays & cold weather.

Later during the day, I drove up to LA to see my other sister, Dianne.  She surprised with me tickets to the Nutcracker Ballet in LA, so sweet!  For my outfit, I threw on a nude blazer coat, a huge furry scarf, and did some red lips! Pop!  Afterwards we did dinner at this cute little Japanese restaurant!  So much sashimi guys… my sister knows me best! She surprised me with the cutest new Kate Spade necklace that i’ll have to show you guys! And lastly, the night of course ended with a sleepover!

Needless to say, I had an amazing birthday spent with the people I love most! 20 is gonna be a good year, I can feel it!  Cheers, to twenties!

Xo, Jenni!

Fall Beauty Inspiration | All About The Plums

Happy Fall!  It’s officially Fall and I couldn’t be more excited!  Out with the brights and in with the darks.  I think this Fall I will really be loving shades of plum!  Here is a little inspiration board of all Fall Beauty Essentials! There are a few products here that I want to highlight. The first two are Clinique’s Moisture Surge, and Lush’s Sympathy for the Skin.  These are both highly recommended moisturizers because Moisture Surge is lightweight but very moisturizing and Sympathy for the Skin is AMAZING.  Sympathy for the Skin is definitely thicker but your skin will thank you.   The next highlighted product is Bare Mineral’s “Warmth”.  This all over face color is pretty amazing!  Just the smallest amount can add the biggest dimension to your face and for Fall especially, I feel it’s the perfect color!  Overall, these are all really great products and perfect for Fall!  Until next time.

With love, Jenni

An “Off The Shoulder” Summer

Hi loves!  Hope you’re all having a great evening.  A few weekends ago I went wedding venue shopping with my sisters, hence this beautiful tuscany-feeling villa.  It had cute little balconies, lots of greenery, and it made me really wanna travel to Italy!  (One day!) Anyways, I wanted to share a classic Off the Shoulder look that I wore!  Off the Shoulder has been a huge trend this summer! I wonder if it will continue in the Fall or if it will stay behind. What do you guys think!?

Top: Stitch & Feather

Jeans: Elison Rd.

Pumps: Steve Madden

This look is summery, classic, and simple.  Now on to the FALL Trends, yay! 🍂☕️👢🎃

10 Elements of Glow: Small habits that make a huge difference

Happy Tuesday!  Here is the quickest guide to good living you’ll ever read!

Everyday is a new day.  A new day for opportunity, a new day for growth, a new day to glow and be our best….. but how often do we stop and realize that?  I think we could all agree that sometimes life just gets crazy and hectic and we forget to take it day by day.  Here are 10 small healthy habits that make a huge difference that I try to implement in my day!  Remember, You are entirely up to you.

1. Wake up Earlier

You are the creator of your own productivity.  You do it, I do it, we all do it!  The moment we wake up…we stay in bed, be lazy on our phones, and think about the days’ plans.  If you motivate yourself to get out of bed and start your day earlier you’d be surprised of how much more you can get done.  Just like they say, “the early bird gets the worm”.

2.   Drink water

Drink a big glass of water when you wake up in the mornings.  It’s such a small thing that makes the biggest difference in your health.  It gets your digestive system flowing and cleanses your body out for a new day.   You will notice a really big difference in your skin especially.  Feel the glow people!

3. Practice Gratitude

Have a journal close to your bed side (or even use your notes in your phone!) Spend quality time practicing gratitude and write down 3 things your presently grateful for.  Take advantage of that time.  It’s YOUR time to reflect and stay grounded.  Treat everyday like Thanksgiving!

4. Be Active

Be active for at least 30 minutes – an hour everyday.  The release of endorphins is one of the best things for your body.  For me, I like going to hot yoga classes, pilates, or a dance class.  Exercise isn’t just something to check off your list.  It is your time to stay in tune with your body and treat it as a priority, because it is #1.  So so important!

5. De-clutter

Have a set 30 minutes to de-clutter life.  Organize your desk, clean out your iPhone, clean your room, go through your fridge and filter out the unhealthy foods, throw out old makeup, go through your thousand’s of emails.  However you need to de-clutter, do it.  It will help keep things in order and organize life day by day.  If you’re anything like me, having a clean organized space will make you so much more productive and successful.

6. Drink Tea/ Matcha
Tea is one of the healthiest drinks for your body.  Something I’ve recently really gotten into is organic green matcha powder.  You can buy it at Trader Joes, Sprouts, Whole Foods etc.  It comes in a powder form and you can mix it into anything!  Drinking one cup of this stuff a day can do wonders for your body by giving you a blast of antioxidants. Explore the tea world, there are SO many different kinds!  One cup a day and you’ll start noticing differences in your body in less than 2 weeks!  (For those of you coffee drinkers, try converting to tea! It’s a much healthier option!)

7. Pamper Yourself

Everyday you should treat yourself with a little bit of R&R.  Some days more than others, (maybe you decide to go get a mani & pedi!) or something super simple like peel off face mask.  After I shower at night I really like putting coconut oil on my skin and hair.  It moisturizes my skin so much and makes my hair smell and feel amazing.  Maybe if you have some time create a homemade face or hair mask!  Lay out by the pool.  However it happens, giving your body some relaxing pampering everyday is worth the time.  We all need to relax in between the craziness of life.

8. Write down your goals

Having your goals in your head and having them written down are two completely different stories.  So many studies have shown that simply writing your goals down on a piece of paper actually helps you achieve them more often than not.  Set short-term and long-term goals, write down your progress. Remind yourself why you started! An ambitious mind + organization + hard work = you can achieve almost anything!

9. Be in Nature

Spending just a little bit of your day in nature helps to clarify and calm your mind.  It neutralizes your brain with all the other busy things that goes on throughout the day.  Did you know that seeing the color green actually helps you perform better on tests, and allows your brain to function more efficiently?!  Even keeping flowers around the house is a great day brightener!  It could be spending an hour or two at the beach at sunset with dinner, a quick walk through the park, or even just sitting in your backyard.  It’s easier than you think!

10. Sleep well, and earlier

Catch those Z’s people!  A good night sleep is the key to a good next day.  Our bodies require rest to function (and to  push ourselves above and beyond everyday).  Try not to be on your laptop, phone, or working for 30 minutes before you sleep to allow your brain to have some down time to unwind after the day.  Your sleep will improve rapidly if you try to do this everyday.  Lastly, Sleep earlier!  Always put your body first. Everyday is a new day to improve your mind, body, and soul.  I truly believe it starts within, and all these habits will become easier everyday if  you continue to be conscious of them!  Small habits can make a huge difference.

Ps. I am really really excited for FALL, which is only in about a month or two!  Get ready for Autumn fun on Lifestyle By Cocoa.  Till next time, Happy Glowing People! XO, Jenni.
