Happy Tuesday! Here is a quick guide to good living.
Everyday is a new day. A new day for opportunity, a new day for growth, a new day to be our best….. but how often do we stop and realize that? I think we could all agree that life gets crazy and hectic and we forget to take it day by day. Here are 10 small healthy habits that make a huge difference that I try to implement in my day!
1. Wake up Earlier
You are the creator of your own productivity. You do it, I do it, we all do it! The moment we wake up…we stay in bed, be lazy on our phones, and think about the days’ plans. If you motivate yourself to get out of bed and start your day earlier you’d be surprised of how much more you can get done.
2. Drink water
Drink a big glass of water when you wake up in the mornings. It’s such a small thing that makes the biggest difference in your health. It gets your digestive system flowing and cleanses your body out for a new day. You will notice a really big difference in your skin especially. Feel the glow people!
3. Practice Gratitude
Have a journal close to your bed side. Spend quality time practicing gratitude and write down 3 things your presently grateful for. Take advantage of that time. It’s YOUR time to reflect and stay grounded.
4. Be Active
Be active for at least 30 minutes – an hour everyday. The release of endorphins is one of the best things for your body. For me, I like going to hot yoga classes, pilates, or simply just taking a quick walk outside. Exercise isn’t just something to check off your list. It is your time to stay in tune with your body and treat it as a priority, because it is #1. So so important!
Have a set 30 minutes to de-clutter life. Organize your desk, clean out your phone, clean your room, go through your fridge and filter out the unhealthy foods, throw out old makeup, go through your thousand’s of emails. However you need to de-clutter, do it. It will help keep things in order and organize life day by day. If you’re anything like me, having a clean organized space will make you so much more productive and successful.
6. Drink Tea
Tea is one of the healthiest drinks for your body. Explore the tea world, there are SO many different kinds! One cup a day and you’ll start noticing differences in your body in less than 2 weeks! (For those of you coffee drinkers, try converting to tea! It’s a much healthier option!)
7. Pamper Yourself
Everyday you should treat yourself with a little bit of R&R. Some days more than others, (maybe you decide to go get a mani & pedi!) or something super simple like peel off face mask. After I shower at night I really like putting coconut oil on my skin and hair. It moisturizes my skin so much and makes my hair smell and feel amazing. Maybe if you have some time create a homemade face or hair mask! Lay out by the pool. However it happens, giving your body some relaxing pampering everyday is worth the time. We all need to relax in between the craziness of life.
8. Write down your goals
Having your goals in your head and having them written down are two completely different stories. So many studies have shown that simply writing your goals down on a piece of paper actually helps you achieve them. Set short-term and long-term goals, write down your progress. Remind yourself why you started! An ambitious mind + hard work = you can achieve almost anything!
9. Be in Nature
Spending just a little bit of your day in nature helps to clarify and calm your mind. It neutralizes your brain with all the other busy things that goes on throughout the day. Did you know that seeing the color green actually helps you perform better on tests, and allows your brain to function more efficiently?! Even keeping flowers around the house is a great day brightener! It could be spending an hour or two at the beach at sunset with dinner, a quick walk through the park, or even just sitting in your backyard. It’s easier than you think!
10. Sleep well, and earlier
Catch those Z’s people! A good night sleep is the key to a good next day. Our bodies require rest to function (and to push ourselves above and beyond everyday). Try not to be on your laptop, phone, or working for 30 minutes before you sleep to allow your brain to have some down time to unwind after the day. Your sleep will improve rapidly if you try to do this everyday. Lastly, Sleep earlier! Always put your body first. Everyday is a new day to improve your mind, body, and soul. I truly believe it starts within, and all these habits will become easier everyday if you continue to be conscious of them! Small habits can make a huge difference.
