Meal Replacements: Avo-Love Smoothie

When it comes down to deliciousness and convenience, smoothies are the perfect creamy treat!  They are perfect for when you’re on the go and can even replace meals if you make them correctly and include the nessecary essential nutrients that your body needs from each meal. The trick is to have enough protein, healthy fats and fiber to keep you from getting hungry less than 2 hours later!

I’m just gonna say this really quick, Straight up, Juicing and drinking smoothies to lose weight is NOT healthy or good for your body in any way and you will most likely just gain all that weight back.  When you deprive your body of nutrients and therefore energy, it will store more fat to keep your body going all day.  Nobody wants a slower metabolism!  There are healthier and smarter ways to implement smoothies and juices into weight loss.  Personally, I like to have a light breakfast + a smoothie to get all my greens in.  For lunch, unless i’m starving and could eat a horse I will make a meal replacement smoothie.  Then, for dinner I usually ALWAYS eat a regular meal because 1. Drinking that many smoothies a day will just burn me out and 2. I simply just love food and I think we can all relate.

Here is a yummy and creamy smoothie recipe that you can drink as a meal replacement! I call this the:  Avo Love

Here’s what you need:

  • 1 cup of blueberries
  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup of strawberries
  • 1 half avocado
  • 1 cup of spinach
  • 1 table spoon of Chia seeds & flaxseed
  • honey (to taste)
  • 1/2 cup greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup of almond milk
  • 1 square of tofu

The Avocado will give you the healthy fats, tofu will provide the protein and the rest of the ingredients will add fiber (especially the flaxseed!)  Remember, you should always have some form of protein, fiber and healthy fats in your smoothie if it’s replacing a meal.  I really love using avocados because it gives the smoothie a super creamy and thick texture that I love! (And a pretty green color!)

I know the flavors seem a little funky and all over the place but this recipe is tested and tasted (and LOVED) by yours truly so you don’t have to worry!  If you want it sweeter, just add honey.  The Avo-love is the perfect creamy treat that will leave you feeling full long after your last sip!  Remember, juice cleanses are not the answer.  Take care of your body and Enjoy!
